With its starting backcourt off to play Division I basketball this summer, Imhotep Charter will have to rely on younger talent to step up and fill a significant void as the Panthers look to repeat last season’s PIAA Class 4A championship run.

Dahmir Bishop will be one of those players, and he’s had a solid offseason to boost his stock.

Bishop is a 6 foot 4 guard who came off the bench for Imhotep last season and spelled Division I signees Daron Russell (Rhode Island) and David Beatty (South Carolina).

“It’s a real good experience,

” Bishop told PennLive in April. “They push me real hard in practice. You’re not going to ever get a chance to play with guys like them, how talented they are, unless you make it to a high major level. To have that chance right now is a wonderful thing.”

Bishop spent the spring playing for K Low Elite’s U 16 team on the adidas Uprising circuit. He starred for Imhotep in the Northeast Basketball League this month and scored a game high 22 points in the Panthers’ 63 35 win over a short handed Neumann Goretti squad.
