WIESKAMP LANDS OFFER: Highly touted Muscatine freshman Joe Wieskamp has picked up his first Division I basketball scholarship offer.

Iowa State offered the 6 foor 4 wing Tuesday, according to the Iowa Barnstormers (his AAU team). Wieskamp, a third team all state selection by the Iowa Newspaper Association this past season, averaged 18.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Muskies.

Wieskamp took unofficial visits to Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Creighton and Northern Iowa this past season.

HIGH LEVEL COMPETITION: The Davenport Assumption and Moline girls soccer teams are among the 42 schools competing in this weekend’s ninth annual Adidas Tournament of Champions in Burlington.

Morgan Teel has signed to play soccer at Northern Iowa and all state swimmer Luke Eure will compete for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge.

Nick Hairston (William Penn), Rodney Levi (Wartburg), Tony Marshall (Wartburg) and Jacob Hougton (Illinois Wesleyan) have elected to play football. Nick Morris, Tyler Broders, Harry Jestel and Jacob Hamann have signed to play baseball at Muscatine Community College.

Bella Solis is scheduled to join the volleyball and track teams at Dubuque, while Jack Reemtsma will run at Luther College and Ben McCullough is expected to play soccer at Wartburg.
