adidas white Bethlehem councilwoman endorses Edwards in the PA 15th
Greg Edwards, one of at least seven Democrats who indicated they will run for retiring Congressman Charlie Dent’s seat in the 15th congressional district, has gotten the endorsement of Bethlehem City Council Vice President Olga Negron.
In a release, Negron said she became familiar with Edwards, the senior pastor of Resurrected Life Community Church and founder and CEO of Resurrected Community Development Corp., when they were co chairpersons of the Water Fountain Project, which examined wealth disparities within African American and Latinx communities in the greater Lehigh Valley.
“I watched him speak up for the underdogs, for those people left behind. It was incredible. When you see someone speak like this, with passion, from the heart, you know he will fight for us for all of us,” Negron said in a statement Wednesday.
In a statement, Edwards called Negron a “fierce fighter for justice and an advocate for building community” and was proud to have her endorsement.
Among the other Democrats who indicated they may seek the Democratic nomination are Chip Collica of Hershey Bill Leiner, Coplay mayor; John Morganelli, Northampton County’s district attorney; Laura Quick, a UPS package driver from Lebanon County; David Weidman, a combat veteran from Emmaus; and Susan Ellis Wild, an Allentown attorney.
The Republicans who have announced their candidacies are Dean Browning, former Lehigh County commissioner; Marty Nothstein, Lehigh County Commissioner and former Olympic cyclist; Mike Pries, Dauphin County Commissioner; state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie; and Scott Uehlinger, a former CIA officer and a Republican National Convention delegate.
