VF Majestic in Palmer Township has made all the on field uniforms for Major League Baseball since 2005, a run that will reportedly come to an end following the 2019 season.
Several media outlets have reported that Under Armour will outfit all big leaguers with uniforms beginning in 2020.
Here’s an overview of the uniform providers in the Big Four: MLB, National Football League, National Basketball Association and National Hockey League. While the MLB uniforms are made in the United States, VF Majestic’s parent company, VF Corp., had 77 percent of its products made by independent contractors, primarily in Asia, in 2015. Majestic’s reported replacement, Under Armour, has limited domestic manufacturing, with about 63 percent of its products last year made in China, Jordan, Vietnam and Indonesia. It is not yet clear where Under Armour would make the MLB uniforms.
NFL: Nike, based in Beaverton, Ore., last March extended its NFL on field apparel rights contract three years, making the deal good through the 2019 season, Sports Business Journal reported. As a company, “virtually all” of Nike’s apparel is made outside the United States by independent contract manufacturers, according to the company’s annual report. In fiscal 2016, the report states, contract factories in China,

NBA: In June 2015, the NBA announced an eight year partnership that will make Nike the association’s official on court apparel provider, beginning with the 2017 18 season. Nike will become the first NBA apparel partner to have its logo appear on NBA uniforms. That announcement came three months after Adidas said it would not pursue an extension to its NBA apparel deal, which expires at the end of this season. According to the Adidas Group’s annual report, the company worked with 320 independent manufacturing partners in 2015, 79 percent of which were in Asia, 12 percent in Europe and 9 percent in the Americas.
PALMER TOWNSHIP Baseball has long been known as America’s pastime, a sport full of traditions such as the ceremonial first pitch, curtain calls and the seventh inning stretch.
Since 2005, one of those traditions has included outfitting all of its big leaguers with uniforms made in the Lehigh Valley.
NHL: In September 2015, the NHL announced a seven year deal with Adidas, based in Herzogenaurach, Germany, to produce its uniforms, starting with the 2017 18 season. Adidas will replace Reebok, which the Adidas Group bought in 2006. According to its annual report, Reebok CCM Hockey made around 3 million units of apparel in 2015. The majority was produced in Asia, while small portions came from the Americas (particularly Canada) and Europe, the report states.
