The 32 page federal indictment unsealed today accuses Auburn assistant coach and former NBA star Chuck Person and Rashan Michel of conspiracy, bribery and other charges as part of an FBI investigation into “the criminal influence of money on coaches and student athletes.”

According to the complaint, Michel conspired with Person as the coach received approximately $91,500 from a cooperating FBI witness over a 10 month period. In exchange, Person’s agreed to “use his official influence” over Auburn players to steer them to sign with specific financial consultants and buy suits from Michel.

A former NBA official, Michel founded Thompson Bespoke Clothing, a high end men’s clothing company based in Atlanta, and he has become a tailor to the stars with custom made suits for NFL and NBA draft nights.

Michel is a native of metro Birmingham and apparently grew up in Fairfield.

Michel then worked with numerous other professional athletes, including Birmingham native Earl Bennett.

FBI probe hits college basketball

Michel is also known for a 2011 fight with NBA legend Dominique Wilkins in 2011 over a financial dispute. The fight left Michel with a swollen left eye in his mugshot,

as well a simple battery charge in Fulton County, Georgia.

Subsequent reports surfaced that Michel also had physical disputes with former NBA players Dion Glover and Solomon Jones.

Michel’s Instagram account suggests he has a number of professional athletes as clients, including Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette, Houston Texas QB Deshaun Watson, and ESPN personality Chris Broussard.

Chuck Person suspended without pay

Person and Michel were indicted as part of a wide ranging corruption probe into college basketball, as 10 people, including a top Adidas executive, were charged with using brides to influence young athletes’ college decision, shoe sponsors,
