He writes that while he wasn’t aware of the rape accusations, Rosenberg was well aware of the Hollywood tycoon’s “certain pattern of overly aggressive behavior that was rather dreadful.”

But why did he stay silent?

Rosenberg goes on to accuse producers, actors, actresses, politicians, agents and many more that everyone in Hollywood was aware of Weinstein’s advances in some form or another.

“I saw you,” he writes. “All of you. God help me, I was there with you.”

and Canadian ticket sales, kicking off a new franchise for “Hunger Games” producer Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.

Walt Disney Co family comedy “Muppets Most Wanted” finished in second place, nabbing $16.5 million from Friday through Sunday, according to estimates provided by Rentrak. Animated “Mr. Peabody Sherman,” produced by Dreamworks Animation Inc, took the No. 3 slot with $11.7 million. and Canadian) ticket sales.

Shailene Woodley stars in “Divergent” as Tris Prior, a teenager who doesn’t fit in to a faction because she has multiple dominant personality traits, making her a threat to the government. She chooses to join the Dauntless faction of warriors who defend the society’s inhabitants. British actor Theo James plays Four, Tris’ mentor and love interest.

The debut of “Divergent” fell short of the box office heights of two other young adult franchises. “Hunger Games” started with a massive $152.5 million in March 2012 while “Twilight” opened with $69.6 million in November 2008.

Lions Gate said Friday it was confident “Divergent” would become an important franchise for the company and it was moving ahead with the second film in the series, called “Insurgent,” which will reach theaters in March 2015.

Noting that the “Divergent” opening was shy of blockbusters “Hunger Games” and “Twilight,” Jeff Bock, senior box office analyst at Exhibitor Relations Co., said “$56 million is a great opening for any film, and virtually locked down the proposed trilogy.”

“This is something to build on for the series, and with the cast expected to be in high demand, the ‘Divergent’ legacy will continue to grow,” Bock added.

Richie Fay, the studio’s president of domestic distribution,

said, “We’re very pleased with the outcome for the franchise launch.”

The movie’s A+ CinemaScore grade from the under 18 audience bodes well for the coming weeks as spring break and Easter school holidays approach, Fay said, noting, “The young adult audience has been underserved in the last couple of weeks.”

The company spent $85 million to produce “Divergent,” plus $40 million to $45 million on marketing, according to a person with knowledge of the film’s budget. The studio has recouped about $70 million of the cost through international licensing deals, the person said.

“Muppets Most Wanted,” a sequel to a 2011 “Muppets” movie, stars Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell alongside Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog and other classic Muppet characters. In the new film, Kermit is imprisoned in a Russian gulag in a case of mistaken identity, while an evil impostor travels with his muppet friends on a European tour.

“Mr. Peabody and Sherman” brought its global sales through three weekends to $172 million. The movie was distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Rounding out the domestic charts, Greek warrior sequel “300: Rise of an Empire” landed in fourth place with $8.7 million, while the independent faith based new release “God’s Not Dead” pulled in $8.6 million to claim the No. 5 spot.

Warner Brothers, a unit of Time Warner, released “300: Rise of an Empire.”

adidas design your own ‘Den of Thieves’ pulls off brutal action despite pointless subplots

womens adidas superstar trainers ‘Den of Thieves’ pulls off brutal action despite pointless subplots

“Where did you get all this information?” asks one of Merrimen’s henchmen after Merrimen (Pablo Schreiber) magically produces the schematics for one of the tightest security banks in the country.

Merrimen stares intensely for a moment. Peculiar quips and tangential subplots are constantly taking the audience in and out of the focus of the overarching narrative. But, with a delightfully satisfying plot twist ending and a few good action sequences to lean on, “Den of Thieves” emerges from its own disorienting design as a modest success.

The film isn’t different enough from “Ocean’s Eleven” to justify an extensive summary a group of exceptionally talented criminals gather together to rob the unrobbable. The difference is this time, Gerard Butler (our second favorite celebrity who looks like Russell Crowe, the first being Russell Crowe) is chasing them, and the proclaimed “original gangster cop” pulls no punches.

There are certainly creative flairs in the film that bring unfamiliar flavors to the tried and true action movie formula. Gudegast presents his story in a series of vignettes, with each primary character being introduced in a scene specifically constructed to define them for the audience. Once we’ve met our criminals and our cops, these vignettes continue, only in a less defined sense, with scenes that are edited together in such a way that they end abruptly or blend into each other. It offers an ideal balance for a subtle yet engaging method of visual storytelling.

But there are other elements of the storytelling that are too ambitious. Gudegast attempts to craft meaningful parallels between the “regulators” and the “outlaws” by taking us into their personal family lives. The problem is, we don’t care not even a little bit about Nick Flanagan’s (Butler) marital problems or whether Levi Enson’s (50 Cent) daughter has a nice date to the dance.

We don’t care because Nick and Levi, as well as many of the other main characters, are total assholes. They’re unapologetic, brutal and angry only O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s Donnie is easy to love. It’s Jackson’s charisma that carries much of the film as it is; after appearing in “Straight Outta Compton” and “Ingrid Goes West,” the actor musician has proven that he is certainly one to watch.

STX Motion Pictures Artwork/Courtesy

With unlikeable characters on both sides, it becomes challenging for the audience to know who to root for, so viewers are inclined to spend most of their time just waiting for the next big showdown. And these moments are worth the wait with each shootout, robbery or car chase, Gudegast cuts the theatrics and delivers a pure, intense adrenaline rush. It’s refreshing to see action sequences this raw and unrestrained, completely lacking any absurd stunts or flashy bravery.

And then, we get to the ending. It would be an overstatement to say it was an unpredictable conclusion our instincts tell us that this was inevitable way before the reveals are made. What’s exciting is that, in the blurriness of the fast paced editing, off putting dialogue and suspension of disbelief, the story was laden with clues pointing toward the twist all along. In other words, the film disguises itself as a bad action movie, but proves to be much more.

If nothing else, Gerard Butler has at least recovered any dignity he may have lost on the sets of “Geostorm” and “Gods of Egypt.” “Den of Thieves” may not make the action movie hall of fame, but it offers enough uniqueness in a genre so often plagued with familiarity that it should earn some respect.

adidas coats ‘Culture II’ falls flat

adidas.co.uk ‘Culture II’ falls flat

The rise of Migos has been packed with dynamism. It was composed of ostentatious Audemars Piguet watches juxtaposed with the modest recording studios of Quality Control in Atlanta. It was characterized by the discipline of creating a monstrous 24 track album set against the ever emerging stories of arrests surrounding the three members and their friends. This brand of unpredictability and lavishness, paired with their infectious, catchy lyrics, that carried the hip hop artists Offset, Quavo and Takeoff into the tops of Billboard charts. Culture, the precursor to Culture II, was jam packed with banger after banger. It was the home of “Bad and Boujee” and “Slippery,” the latter ofwhich featured trap legend, Gucci Mane.

Culture II doesn’t follow in the footsteps of its chart defining predecessor. The album is painfully long it’s a stretched out, almost two hour compendium of mumble rap and “skrrting.” The few breaks in the album come from its features, but even the impressive list of guest producers, ranging from Pharrell Williams to Kanye West, doesn’t pull enough weight to save the album from its own repetitiveness.

On multiple tracks, repeated lyrics bog down the beats, which are undoubtedly the saving grace of the album. “Walk It Talk It,” the sixth track on the album, is the first collaboration between Drake and Migos since “Versace,” the 2013 chart topper that Drake remixed and rapped over in a move that first made the Atlanta based trio turn heads. Although the song features several rapped verses, all lyricism is drowned out by Quavo’s seemingly endless loops of “Walk it, like I talk it.” Even though it was repetitive catchiness that brought so much attention to songs such as “Hannah Montana” and “Bad and Boujee,” this device is used ad nauseum in Culture II, leaving the track list stale.

Not only would the album benefit from parsing in its choruses, the amount of tracks could easily be cut in half. After so much dope and expensive jewelry and after so many bitches, the album starts to feel like one really long, generic trap song. In the end, the album is heavily supported by its impressive features from the likes of Travis Scott and Cardi B, whose verse on “Motorsport” is one of the strongest moments on the album. Ultimately, it’s not actually Migos that stands out in Culture II.

But the fact that Migos has attracted all this talent to Culture II speaks to how the three rappers have become cultural icons. Their songs have made a place for trap music in predominantly white communities transforming trap into one of the fundamental requirements of fraternity party soundtracks. They’re a group highly sought after by the most influential names in hip hop.

This is the group’s third studio album, and it’s still under Coach K’s label, Quality Control an indie label that brought Gucci Mane and Jeezy to fame. Through his guidance, the group continued to make hit after hit about the culture that surrounds trap. Instead of running through what it was like to make trap music in Atlanta something the group has done routinely in the past the lyrics of Culture II talk more about the exorbitant wealth and fame that has come from the group’s insanely successful music career.

In one of the more sentimental tracks, “Work Hard,” the group talks about how its success is manifested in more than Rolexes and items from Saint Laurent. It’s a uncharacteristic, fleeting moment of intimacy that Migos builds as all three members talk about how, despite taking unorthodox routes to success, they can still go back and provide for their families. Nevertheless, these few moments where Migos demonstrates variation in its style is lost under the superficial film that covers this album.

This album does show a side of Migos that the group hasn’t explored in its previous albums, but this angle is drowned out by all the ad libbing and extravagance. What could have been an interesting expos into the culture of trap ends up as an album that stands wavering on its cast of fillers.

In a first for North America, the world largest furniture maker is opening a pickup store in London where shoppers can pick up online orders, order furnishings and even do a little shopping. Norman De Bono reports.

At the store, which is to open late this year at Southdale and Wonderland roads, in the former Angelo shoppers will be able to place orders, pick up online orders and even do a little shopping. The store will feature 99 of Ikea most popular items for sale onsite, Ikea Canada president Stefan Sjostrand said Tuesday.

It all about serving buyers who shop from their couch at home, saving them from making trips down Hwy.

is undergoing the most significant change in its history, thanks largely to the expansion of online shopping and increasing popularity. It means traditional barriers between online and bricks and mortar stores are evaporating, Levy said.

In its place are rising retailers with small storefronts with an online presence, such as the Best Buy Mobile store in Masonville Mall.

will be different physical models. What IKEA is doing recognizes the rise of the online economy, Levy said.

But the big stores are still the backbone of IKEA business, said Sjostrand, and while pickup stores won replace them, they make shopping easier.

are in a fantastic situation now. We have increased store visitation and sales are up in stores, he said.

Store sales will rise 8% and visits are up 3% this year, he added.

A recent Canada Post survey shows that in 2014, 76% of Canadian households shopped online and about one quarter of those are shoppers online, Levy said.

London landed the IKEA store because its demographic profile makes it the ideal test market, said Kapil Lakhotia, chief executive of the London Economic Development Corp.

a new concept IKEA is rolling out and London is only one of a handful to get this. It is exciting for us, Lakhotia said.

looked at our demographics, our profile, our population and spending levels, employment mix all these make London an interesting test market to roll out new products, concepts and ideas. IKEA will announce its second pickup store in Canada.

At 1,860 square metres, it one tenth the size of a regular Ikea.

adidas og Lolo Jones’ tenacity showed early on

Lolo Jones was a track star at Roosevelt High in Des Moines, Iowa. She took her track career to the Olympics twice, and now she’s competing in the Winter Olympics as a bobsledder. The longtime youth track and field coach in Des Moines, Iowa, would leave the hurdles for his 13 year old pupil, who wanted to practice as much as she could since she was new to competing in track. Jones would set up the three hurdles in the alleyway behind the home and diligently work on what quickly grew into her passion. That passion has driven Jones over the years and helped her become one of the most famous American hurdlers in the event’s history. Jones competed in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics (placing seventh and fourth, respectively, in the 100 meter hurdles), and now will get a chance in this year’s Winter Olympics, competing in her newest venture: Bobsledding. The women’s bobsledding competition begins Tuesday morning in Sochi.Photo courtesy of USA BobsleddingLolo Jones”She was so dominant,” Nichols said about Jones’ high school track career. “She had speed that you just don’t get all the time. She was just one of those natural athletes.”See the MaxPreps “From Students to Sochi” homepage, with links to more Olympics contentDuring her days in junior high school and high school, Jones competed for the Des Moines Area Youth Track Club in the summer where she was able to face a higher competitive level on the national scene and ran for Roosevelt (Des Moines, Iowa) during the school year.Jones, who is now 31, didn’t have a very stable family situation growing up. With her dad in the Air Force and spending a stint in jail, Jones attended eight different schools in elementary school and middle school. When Jones’ mom who was raising five kids on her own wanted to move again, Jones was adamant she wanted to stay at Roosevelt High School, where she could pursue her hurdling dream. Des Moines Area Youth Track Club head coach Phil Ferguson helped line up host families for Jones to stay with during her years in high school.Track was a way for Jones to escape from it all.”She was always really intense in track,” Ferguson said. “She figured out that was the way for her to get out of the position that she was in.”As a teenager, Jones was fast and athletic two key components to any good hurdler.”She was raw, but she had a little bit of speed,” said Nichols, who worked with Jones off and on for six years. “Anybody that’s going to do hurdles has to have a little bit of speed.”Ferguson recalls helping Jones get prepared for her freshman track season in high school.”At that time, she was pretty slim and didn’t really have any good shoes to train in,” Ferguson said. “As a matter of fact, we probably wouldn’t have looked at her as one of our best sprinters at that time. Of course, she was new to the sport and she fell in love with hurdling.”Jones’ coaches saw a lot of potential early on, especially in the 100 meter hurdles. It didn’t take her long to pick up the nuances of hurdling and get down the rhythm of leaping over the hurdles in stride.”I can remember moving her back off the hurdle a little bit, she was so close. She just took off with that,” Nichols said. “You weren’t going to beat her. And she had that in her mind and she proved it in all her races.””We had to be worried about her trail leg because she almost ran over those hurdles with that trail leg like she was running,” Ferguson said. “So after her freshman year she developed that a lot better and before you knew it she was practicing those hurdles and she wouldn’t miss those for anything.”According to Nichols, Jones placed at a national meet in Houston during junior high school. It would be the first of many medals. As a freshman in high school, Jones qualified in two events for the Iowa state meet in Class 3A, comprised of the state’s largest schools. She placed third in the 100 hurdles (14.9 seconds) and was a member of the sixth place 4×100 relay team. The next year, Jones won the 100 hurdles (13.78) and anchored the 4×100 relay team to victory. She was also second in the 100 (12.38).During her junior season, Jones was hampered by a hamstring injury and despite making it to state in the 100 and 100 hurdles, she failed to medal. Jones followed with a phenomenal summer in the Des Moines Area Youth Track Club.”In her junior year, she finished fourth in the nation in the 100 hurdles and each year she got better,” Ferguson said. “She was always determined to do her best. She saw the goal of getting to college free by being able to do well in the hurdles.”As a senior, Jones went out on top, winning state titles in the 100 hurdles (14.03), 100 (12.24) and 200 (25.31). She was named the Gatorade Midwest Athlete of the Year and broke the Iowa state record in the hurdles at 13.4 seconds. After graduating from Roosevelt in 2000, Jones went on to a phenomenal track career at Louisiana State University, being honored as an 11 time All American.Jones’ determination made her such a great runner, Ferguson said.”Always wanting to learn, always wanting to practice, always wanting to be the best,” Ferguson said. “That was her specialty and no one was going to beat her in that one.”
