A new program among the Masters Tournament Foundation, the USGA and the PGA of America has been formed called the “Drive, Chip and Putt” Championship. It’s a free, nationwide junior skills competition that will conclude at Augusta National Golf Club in 2014. Competitors will be comprised of boys and girls ages 7 15, and they will compete in separate divisions in four age categories.

The regional champions in each of the boys and girls divisions from the four age categories will advance to the finals to be held at Augusta National the Sunday before the Masters Tournament, April 6, 2014. He won on April 22 by three strokes over fellow club member Jack McDonald. Two players from Van Patten fared well: Ralph Maru finished third in the Class A Low Gross and Dave LaFleche won the Low Net by a stroke over Windy Hill’s Max Petar.

Also, the ENYGA members voted to try and speed up play to a 4 hour round. If a group takes longer than 4 hours and there is space between you and the group in front of you, the group is given a warning. The second time, your tee time will be moved to the end but you must putt everything out.
