adidas jabulani Local racer Jarett Pesci promoting safe driving
He is a motocross racerr.
Distractions while riding a Yamaha 250 over bumps and more serious hills and through sharp turns that would make a gyroscope dizzy risk if not life itself, definitely limb.
I try to stay focused when I am on the road. I try to pay attention to my surroundings. I am sure that comes from my motocross background, said Pesci, 23, of Shelby Township.
No accidents on the road.
No speeding tickets.
Both a parent and an insurance company s dream driver.
I got my first bike when I was two, said Pesci.
It probably figures then that his dad, Greg, and his mom, Marcia, are among his biggest supporters, along with his brother, Kyle.
Kyle Pesci will be racing in the RedBud Motocross Nationals July 1 at RedBud MX in Buchanan, Michigan.
Close to 90 riders will attempt to qualify for the 40 man field.
Pesci has been supported by local dealership, Magic Racing, for years. That business is on Van Dyke just south of 23 Mile Road.
My brother worked there for a long time. We ve built a really nice relationship with Mike and Jeff Himanek at Magic Racing. They ve helped us a lot. They do everything they can to help us out, said Jarett Pesci.
Magic Racing sells a variety of power sports products. The family owned and operated business has been open for more than 30 years.
Jarett Pesci is a graduate of Utica High School and Macomb Community College where he earned an associates degree in physical therapy.
The RedBud Nationals area full weekend of motocross events, with the feature races on Saturday. It s also Round 6 of the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship. It is a chance to see the best motocross racers in the world. Saturday only tickets are $45.
Pesci s efforts at Buchanan will include navigating LaRocco s Leap, a 100 foot jump that is part of the RedBud MX outdoor race course.
That s the biggest jump on the circuit, Pesci said.
Drivers get 30 to 40 feet in the air making the jump.
All the riders look forward to the nationals, said Pesci. It s the biggest event in the series. The track is really good and it is always over the Fourth of July weekend. It is just a big, big event.
